Conversions

I cook and bake in England and often use American recipes. Kitchen scales are so convenient, and sometimes a cup is not a cup when you’re on the other side of the world. Here are the conversions I use.

Flour
All-purpose flour: 1 cup = 125 grams
Bread flour: 1 cup = 127 grams
Whole wheat flour: 1 cup = 120 grams
Oat flour: 1 cup = 90 grams

Fat
Butter: 1 stick = 1/2 cup = 113 grams
Olive oil: 1 cup = 220 grams
Vegetable oil: 1 cup = 223 grams
Coconut oil: 1 cup = 209 grams

Sugar
Granulated sugar: 1 cup = 225 grams
Powdered sugar: 1 cup = 125 grams
Brown sugar: 1 cup = 200 grams
Maple syrup: 1 cup = 317 grams

Dairy
Milk: 1 cup = 245 grams
Butter: 1 stick = 1/2 cup = 113 grams
Cream cheese: 1 cup = 226 grams

Other
Canned pumpkin puree: 1 cup = 225 grams
